Tweeting the Christmas Spirit
Check out this cool site from 26digital: http://www.christmastweets.co.uk/
They are rummaging through Twitter searching for sets of keywords to determine what the general public feels about Christmas. It’s a cute social experiment and a fun design. Not sure what’s up with the 3D boxes though.
Charting Emotional Investments
Check out this cool chart on the Vanguard site. It’s about emotional investing… and shows you how your returns would have been different depending on when you pulled out of the market place.
It’s a nifty idea. It would be interesting to add some gauge of the market events around different times (stock market crashes, 911 etc) to see what affected the market and some of the hype that would have affected your confidence in the market.
pprwrk studio – Cool site. Cool fonts.

So… I’ve been keeping this site open on my desktop for days – not sure why I don’t just bookmark it, so I thought I would post it up here. I just really like this type image. The “k” is cool and it just takes me back to my old type posters from design school.
The site itself is also pretty cool too. I like the ‘basic on purpose’ style with the simple rollovers.
lovin’ tullycraft – oh we know we know we know

So… I might be a few years behind the music scene, but I’ve been loving Tullycraft’s ‘Bored to hear your heart still breaks’. It’s so catchy and fun… so I thought I would hit up their website. Cuz you know that’s how I roll…
It’s a cute little blog with a great header. Hand crafted looking font and all the merch and albums have a great retro feel. What I super love? The LP for Every scene needs a center… oh sweet 60s/70s typography… how i love you.
Cool Google Logos for Sesame Street and Wallace & Gromit
I think the Wallace and Gromit one is genius!
Snuffy could have made a good one with his trunk for the “l”!

Advertising is pretty again

This ad for Mao Bao Dishwashing Liquid from Bates 141 in Taiwan is absolutely beautiful.
The evolution of humans does not include our illustration skills
So here is an interactive infographic that is part of some MSNBC Evolution feature. It intends to show the evolutionary theory behind humans and also the future of human evolution.
However you feel about this stuff, you can’t deny that this is a little weird to imagine. Not only that, but this graphic looks like it could use some evolution itself! I think this concept could have been pushed further to show the information in a fun, intuitive way – informationally, stylistically and navigationally.
There seems to be a big gap between ‘late homo’ and ‘uni-human’… perhaps the artist depiction of how we look today could help bridge that.
I hate to dis’ illustrators, but the style is weak. They likely don’t want it to look too realistic, but instead we got something out of a 1970’s encyclopedia… mixed with poor photo-retouching, pixelated cropping, poor typography and weak navigation… and I hope this isn’t harping too much, but let’s see some imagination! The future is a mix of alien-cavemen, the Terminator and Coneheads? How did they miss Star Wars?
Just sayin’…
